Bruno Giacomazzo

I am a theoretical astrophysicist working in the field of numerical relativity and gravitational wave astronomy. In particular I am the main developer of the fully general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (GRMHD) codes WhiskyMHD and Spritz. I got my PhD in Astrophysics at the International School of Advanced Studies in Trieste (Italy) in 2006. I then spent 3 years as a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute in Postdam, Germany), 2 years as a research associate at the Department of Astronomy of the University of Maryland in the USA (in collaboration with the numerical relativity group at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center), and 2 years as a research associate at JILA (University of Colorado, Boulder, USA). In October 2013 I moved back to Italy and I worked for almost six years at the Department of Physics of the University of Trento (first 3 years as a tenure-track professor and then as an associate professor). In July 2019 I moved to Milan where I work as an associate professor at the Department of Physics of the University of Milano-Bicocca.
