Her key research interests include paediatric allergic diseases including food allergy, the role of probiotics and stool microbiota in allergic diseases, epidemiology of allergic diseases, and childhood vaccines. She has published over 200 research articles in peer reviewed journals.
She was a member of the Board of Directors of the World Allergy Organization from 2005 to 2009, Past President of the Asia Pacific Association of Pediatric Allergy, Respirology and Immunology (APAPARI) (2006 to 2008), and Past President of the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Society (Singapore) (2012 to 2013). She is also a member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and a corresponding fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, Allergy and Immunology. She is the past President of the College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Singapore (2007 to 2009), and a member of the Expert Committee on Immunisation, Ministry of Health, Singapore.
