One Health risk communication, Infodemic management and life-long learning specialist
Doctor in Veterinary Medicine
Catherine is a veterinarian by training, whose professional pathway led her to become an expert in one health communication and training. She practiced equine veterinary medicine for some years before entering the policy and public health sector by working for the French Ministry of Agriculture on plant health, and then to professional journalism with the management of a group of five animal health newspapers. From 2013 to 2020, she acted as Head of the communication Department of the World Organisation for Animal Health (founded as OIE, now WOAH) where she spearheaded the evolution of the OIE communications and managed a multicultural team while developing and training an international network of animal health risk communication specialists in WOAH Members’ Veterinary Services.
She is skilled in institutional and intercultural communication, public and press relations, crisis communication, management and training development and facilitation. Day-to-day collaborating with partner organisations such as FAO and WHO to develop common One health communication, trained as a member of the WHO Emergency Communication Network, she also acted as risk communication expert during WHO Joint External Evaluation missions. She was WHO-trained as an infodemic manager in 2020.
She has created her consultancy agency, OLYLO, in 2021 and has since then been supporting the World Health Organization’s Health Emergencies Programme, as risk communication, infodemic management and public health learning specialist.
