Chuanhai Liu received the M. S. degree in probability and statistics from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, in 1987 and the Ph.D. degree in statistics from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, in 1994. He has been a Member of the Technical Staff in Research at Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, since 1995. His research has been focused on statistical modeling and computation. Dr. Liu is a co-winner of the 2000 Outstanding Statistical Application Paper in the Journal of the American Statistical Association and a co-winner of the 2000 Welcoxon Prize for the Best Application Paper in Technometrics.
