Clément de Boyer Montégut received the Ph.D. degree in physical oceanography from Pierre et Marie Curie University, Paris, France, in 2005. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow with Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, Yokohama, Japan, for three years. He is currently a Research Scientist with the Satellites and Air–Sea Interface Team, UMR LOPS, Institut Français de Recherche pour l’Exploitation de la Mer, Plouzané, France. He is an expert in the estimation and analysis of the physical characteristics of the ocean surface layer (surface to a few 100-m deep, the so-called “ocean mixed layer”) from in situ data. He has authored and coauthored 34 peer-reviewed articles. His research interests include understanding the role of salinity on the vertical stratification of the ocean surface layer, the variability mechanisms of ocean surface temperature in the North Indian Ocean, and its role in air–sea interactions at large scales (100 km or more).
