Daniele Giordano

D. Giordano received the Ph.D. degree from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Munich, Germany. He is a Researcher and Lecturer with the Geochemistry and Volcanology Group, Department of Earth Science, University of Turin, Turin, Italy. He is further affiliated with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and the National Research Council (CNR) in Pisa, Italy. After his Ph.D. studies, he has been developing his research program, which has become increasingly diverse and multidisciplinary. During his career, he has been heavily involved in experimental volcanology research carried out at the University of Bayreuth and Munich in Germany; the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, ON, Canada; the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Barcelona, and the Third University of Rome, Italy. His main expertise is in the fields of experimental volcanology, geochemistry, and petrology and the application of physics, rheology, and thermodynamics to volcanic processes. In particular, he has been interested in understanding the effect physical properties and their evolution on syneruptive (magma flow, magma fragmentation, etc.) or posteruptive processes (e.g., welding, remobilization, etc.).
