David E. McClelland received the Ph.D. degree from the University of Otago (UO), Otago, New Zealand, in 1987. He was awarded a Beverly Research Fellowship in Physics at UO before being appointed to the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra, Australia, as a Lecturer in 1988. He is now a Professor and Director of the Centre for Gravitational Physics at the ANU. His research interests include the development of optical techniques for second-generation laser-interferometer-based gravitational wave detectors, the generation and application of squeezed states of light, and gravitational-wave data analysis.
