David A. Kooby, MD, FACS, began practicing with Emory Healthcare in 2003. A board certified surgical oncologist, Dr. Kooby is a pioneer in minimally invasive and robotic pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgery.

Dr. Kooby teaches national courses on laparoscopic resection of the liver, pancreas, and colon, and is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences. He serves on several national committees, including the task force for staging of hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies for the American Joint Committee on Cancer's Cancer Staging Manual. He also currently serves on the hepatobiliary and pancreatic working group committee for the Society of Surgical Oncology, the video-based education committee for the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the executive council, finance, and development committees for the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. He also serves on the committee charged with updating the American Board of Surgery certifying exam.
