Derek J Rosario was initially appointed as Consultant Urological Surgeon in Sheffield and Barnsley, with a sub-specialty interest in reconstructive pelvic surgery. He subsequently took up the post of Honorary Consultant and Senior Lecturer in Uro-oncology at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield where he has practiced to date. His special interest is in pelvic cancer, mainly bladder and prostate cancer.

He undertakes research into quality of life in cancer treatment , patient-reported outcomes and optimising diagnostic pathways for early diagnosis of cancer. Most recently he was elected as President of the Sheffield and District Branch of the Urostomy Association, a post he is proud to have held.

His main aim is to ensure that the Urostomy Association continues as a strong patient representative organisation for all patients living with or considering a urinary diversion. He hopes to promote improved communication between the association and the wider urological community. He is passionate about research into this field and aims to further this wherever he is able.
