Eduardo Ferreira da Silva

Eduardo Anselmo Ferreira da Silva is Vice-Rector for the Academic Affairs in the Aveiro University (Portugal) and also Professor at the Department of Geosciences. He received a degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1986, and MSc and PhD degrees in Geosciences (Environmental Geochemistry research area) from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1991 and 1995, respectively. Eduardo Anselmo Ferreira da Silva research interests concern environmental geochemistry related to studies of site characterization of areas affected by industrial contamination and old mining activities, evaluation of risk on contaminated areas, rehabilitation methodologies, and the environmental Geochemistry and Health issues. He also has research interests in the application of Sequential Selective Chemical Extraction in the study and identification of the bearing-phases of trace metals in soil and stream sediment samples. Belongs to the GeoBioTec - GeoBiosciences, Geotechnologies and Geoengeeneering Research Center. Is the leader of the Research Group "CES - Complex Environmental Systems". Eduardo Anselmo Ferreira da Silva belongs to the following Scientific Organizations: Member of the Association of Exploration Geochemists (Canada); International Geostatistical Association (France); SEGH Communicating Member - European Committee (Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health; Society of Geochemistry; COMLAND - IGU Commission on Land Degradation and Desertification; Serviços Geológicos de Portugal; Associação Portuguesa de Geólogos; Ordem dos Engenheiros (Colégio de Engenharia de Minas); Officer (delegado) na GEM – IUGS Commission on Geosciences for Environmental Management; IMGA - International Medical Geology Association. Is the President of the Grupo de Geoquímica - Sociedade Geológica de Portugal and also the President of the Portuguese Chapter on Medical Geology IMGA. From 1987 to the present he authored numerous papers with multiple collaborations; wrote 14 book chapters, 80 international journal papers and over 250 conference papers.
