Pizzo Elena

Elena Pizzo is a Principal Research Fellow in the Department of Applied Health Research at UCL (https://iris.ucl.ac.uk/iris/browse/profile?upi=EPIZZ45). She is Deputy Lead of the Health Economics and Data Theme of the NIHR ARC North Thames London at UCL, where she is also Research Partnership Team Health Economist. She is expert health economist advisor for the Surgical & Interventional Trial Unit at UCL (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/surgery/research/surgical-interventional-trials-unit-situ) and for the Connect4Children pan-European Network for paediatrics clinical trials (https://conect4children.org/). She is an experienced health economist, having completed her PhD in Economics and Management (Padua University) in 2009, an MSc in Economics and Management of Health Care Services (Ferrara University) in 2003 and a BSc in Economics and Business (Padua University) in 2002. She worked previously at the Imperial College Business School (where she was Research Associate), Ferrara University (Research Assistant). Elena's research interests are primarily in the cost-effectiveness of interventions to improve health across a range of intervention types, disease areas and population groups (including cancer, stroke, mental health, maternity/child care). She has written several papers on the cost-effectiveness of interventions in stroke and cancer. She is currently involved as Co-Investigator in at least 10 funded research grants where she leads the health economics component.
