Emma L Culver

Dr. Emma Culver. BSc. MBChB. DPhil. FRCP. Consultant Hepatologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the John Radcliffe Hospital and Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Oxford. Emma has a clinical and translational interest in cholestatic and autoimmune liver diseases including IgG4-related disease, primary sclerosing cholangitis, autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis. She has representation on the International IgG4 Steering Committee, European IgG4 Working Group, Chair for UK-IgG4, UK-PSC Steering Committee, BASL Immune-Mediated Liver Disease Steering Committee, UK-AIH Scientific Committee, and Global PBC Study Group. She is on the Medical Advisory Board for the PBC Foundation and Scientific Advisory Board for PSC Support patient advocacy groups. She is the UK Chief Investigator and Oxford Principal Investigator on 10 Clinical Trials in autoimmune diseases. She leads the National IgG4 MDT referral and Oxford clinical IgG4 service, and the Thames Valley Autoimmune/Cholestatic liver disease MDT network. Emma has a dual interest in hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma, delivering specialist liver cancer clinics, member of the BASL HCC and CCA Special Interest Groups, leading the clinical work-stream for a Cancer Research UK Grant for early detection in hepatocellular liver cancer, and funded by BRC Oxford for the early detection of cancer program in high-risk conditions. Emma is a mentor and supervisor for the MSc immunology and DPhil cancer programs, supervisor and lead for the Senior Clinical Fellow Program and Gastro-Hep Medical Student Teaching Program. She is an alumni and tutor at Lincoln College Oxford. Emma receives research funding from the Welcome Trust, NIHR Academy of Medical Sciences, NIHR BRC Oxford, PSC-Support, Research Capability Fund and Oxford Charitable Grants.
