As a Clinical Microbiologist at the head of the National Reference Center for Staphylococci and a resercher leading the INSERM research team “Staphylococcal pathogenesis”, my research is strongly oriented towards the epidemiology, population genetics and mechanistics of bacterial infections –with special emphasis on staphylococci- and the potential implication of our research for diagnostic tools, or for prophylactic and/or therapeutic development. The National Reference Centre for Staphylococci provides the opportunity to trace new presentations of staphylococcal diseases as well as epidemic phenomena at their beginning. Overall this situation provides a very favourable environment for translational research.
