Ioannis U. Isaias

Ioannis U. Isaias is director of the Parkinson Institute (Milano, Italy) and head of the Neuroimaging and Motor Control Laboratory of the University Hospital Würzburg (Germany). He is recognized for his work combining molecular imaging studies with biomechanics and neurophysiological recordings. This multidisciplinary approach has provided insights into the basal ganglia circuit changes that underlie the manifestations of Parkinson's disease and related movement disorders. Dr. Isaias received his medical degree from the University of Pavia (Italy) and the University of Leipzig (Germany). After completing residency training in neurology at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Milano, Italy), he worked as a research fellow at the Mount Sinai Hospital (New York, USA). He later obtained a PhD in human physiology at the University of Milan (Italy). Since 2015 he is full professor of molecular neuroimaging at the Julius Maximilians University Würzburg (Germany). In 2016 he was appointed adjunct professor of neurology at the NYU Langone Medical Center (New York, USA).
