目前主要从事大气气溶胶与环境、颗粒物污染、室内空气污染、古气溶胶循环与过去全球变化等方面的研究与教学工作。建立了国内第一个碳气溶胶实验室,系统调查了珠三角、西北地区、青藏高原和14个重要城市大气中碳气溶胶的浓度水平和季节变化特征,并定量解析其贡献来源,率先开展二次碳气溶胶研究;恢复了过去50年青藏高原冰芯记录的黑碳变化历史,并论证其环境影响;在国际上首次论证了气溶胶碳酸盐碳同位素的示踪作用,定量估算了沙尘碳酸盐的环境效应;深入研究了西安大气细粒子的污染特征与成因,为省市部门制定污染控制对策提供支持;在国内首次建立博物馆空气污染研究体系,系统开展了秦兵马俑博物馆、汉阳陵博物馆等的室内大气污染特征与控制对策研究;建立综合的黄土粉尘源谱库,参与系统总结风尘全球铁联系的过程与机制。
