John D Bunton

John D. Bunton received B.Sc., B.E., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 1973, 1975, and 1984, respectively. From 1983 to 1988, he was at the Fleurs Radiotelescope, Kemps Creek, Australia, where he was responsible for all engineering aspects of the telescope as well as having a significant involvement in the astronomy. Since 1989, he has been with the CSIRO ICT Centre, Epping NSW, Australia, where he is currently a Senior Principal Research Engineer in the ICT Centre. At CSIRO he worked in many areas including digital audio, sonar, mining communications and safety, and the square kilometer array in the area of antennas and signal processing. He is currently developing digital beamformers for phased arrays on parabolic dishes and, in collaboration with the University of Sydney, correlators for the Molonglo Synthesis Telescope. Other current research interests are millimeter-wave imaging, MIMO and gigabit wireless.
