His PhD thesis was on the measurement and modeling of visuotopic maps in macaque and human visual cortex. His postdoctoral training was under the supervision of Professor Lawrence L. Wald at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at the Massachusetts General Hospital and focused on technological development for increasing the spatial resolution and accuracy of the functional measurements. He joined the faculty of the Martinos Center in 2010. His research is currently focused on investigating the functional architecture of the human cerebral cortex using high-resolution functional MRI using seven Tesla field strength scanners, and on characterizing and understanding the biological limits on spatial specificity of the fMRI signals. He is a member of the IEEE.
