Jose Pilotto

Jose Pilotto is the deputy director of the AIDS and Molecular Immunology Laboratory at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - Fiocruz. A senior researcher, physician, and PhD, in infectious diseases, with years of experience researching HIV and co-infections, assessing community needs, and working with collaborators both in Brazil and abroad (NIH, CDC, Pasteur Institute, etc). Dr. Pilotto's work has explored medical and social dimensions of the AIDS epidemic in Brazil. He has been the principal investigator on many large, multi-city studies on HIV and sexually transmitted infections for the IMPAACT/NICHD networks. His work has focused on perinatal studies for prevention of HIV acquisition and other sexually transmitted infections, HIV pathogenesis of HIV, and HIV resistance.
