Kari Luojus

Kari Luojus received the M.Sc., Lic.Sc. (Tech.), and D.Sc. (Tech.) degrees from the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK), Espoo, Finland, in 2004, 2007, and 2009, respectively. Since 2008, he has been a Research Scientist and Senior Research Scientist with the Arctic Research Department of the Finnish Meteorological Institute, Helsinki, Finland. He was the Project Manager for the ESA DUE GlobSnow project between 2008 and 2012, which focused on constructing long term essential climate variables concerning terrestrial snow cover. He was also the Project Manager for the ESA DUE GlobSnow-2 project (2012–2014). Dr. Luojus acts as a Steering Group Member for the WMO Global Cryosphere Watch and as the Co-Leader for the WMO GCW Snow Watch Group. His research interests include the development of active and passive microwave remote sensing techniques for cryosphere and hydrological applications.
