I study carbon storage and cycling in soils and ecosystems, including those undergoing changes in climate or landuse or following disturbance. In my research, I use radiocarbon as an indicator of the timescales over which carbon resides in soils and trees and the source of carbon losses from systems through soil respiration, methane efflux, and dissolved organic carbon production and transport.
