Experienced academic with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. I am Associate Professor in Public Health at Nottingham Trent University in the School of Social Sciences. Current roles include teaching, post graduate student supervision, research and consultancy. I am passionate about the promotion of health and upstream interventions at individual, community and global levels. I am involved in several active research projects in Europe, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and the UK. My research focus is on health promotion and health systems / services and community development/engagement as well as patient safety to explore non-communicable diseases (CVD, Breast Cancer, Diabetes) all through the lens of the social determinants of health, using a socio-ecological model. My current research projects are funded by DfID (through the Tropical Health Education Trust (THET)), the British Academy, and EU Commission (Horizon 2020).
