Nicola Giglietto is full professor in Experimental Physics for Politecnico di Bari and Physics Department in Bari and associated to the researches on cosmic rays and gamma rays for INFN. Since 1999 to now he has courses of General Physics for Engineering in Taranto and Bari. Actually he has the courses of General Physics for Aerospace Systems for Engineers and Cosmic Rays for the Physics degree.
The scientific activity of Nicola Giglietto, since the beginning in 1985, was focused on the experimental physics in particular cosmic ray physics. In this framework he contributed to project, develop and build several detectors and then to
the data analysis.
Prof. Nicola Giglietto was the local scientific responsible in Bari for the Fermi experiment, a gamma-ray telescope, build with the financial support of NASA, ASI, INFN and INAF. This satellite experiment, launched in 2008, is perfectly receiving data, that are constantly processed and studied by several people. For this experiment he was international coordinator of the working group about “gamma-ray emission from the solar system bodies”, contributing mainly on the topics regarding the cosmic ray interactions with Moon and Sun and the study of gamma-ray production during solar flares.
Prof. Nicola Giglietto was, since 2006 to 2012, local coordinator of the activities of INFN Committe II (see CSN2 for more details), referee of the experiments and member of this scientific Committee.
He was member of the Scientific and Academic Council of the European network europeo of the astroparticle physics doctorate IDPASC IDPASC Scientific Committee.
