During the 90ies he participated to the design developing and ground calibration of the Stellar X-ray Polarimeter also at Columbia University in the Robert Novick group.
Since late 90ies he worked on BeppoSAX data analysis of X-ray counterparts of Gamma Ray Bursts. In the 1998 he won the Bruno Rossi prize of AAS for the discovery of the extragalactic origin of the Gamma-Ray Bursts.
In early 00ies he participated to the design, construction, calibration and operation of SuperAGILE the x-ray monitor on board AGILE satellite. As a team member of the AGILE Gamma-ray mission he was awarded in 2012 of the Bruno Rossi prize of the AAS for the discovery of the Gamma-ray flares of the Crab Nebula.
