Rainer Engelbrecht

Rainer Engelbrecht (M’09) received the degree in electrical engineering from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Nuremberg, Germany, where he also received the Doctoral degree for research on gas analysis in CO$_2$ lasers by diode laser spectroscopy in 2001. From 2001 to 2016, he was the Supervisor of the Photonics Laboratory, Institute of Microwaves and Photonics, FAU. Since October 2016, he has been a Professor for technical optics and measurement technology at Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm, Nuremberg, and the Head of the Polymer Optical Fiber Application Center, Nuremberg. His research interests include fiber-optic sensors, nonlinear fiber optics, fiber lasers, spectroscopy, and medical applications of lasers and photonics.
