Heineman Thomas C

Dr. Heineman has extensive clinical trial experience across industry and academia. Prior to joining Oncolytics, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Clinical Development at Denovo Biopharma and as Vice President and Head of Clinical Development at Genocea Biosciences and Halozyme Therapeutics. At Halozyme, Dr. Heineman oversaw their pivotal Phase 3 study of PEGPH20 + gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel in metastatic pancreatic cancer. He has also conducted oncology and immuno-oncology studies in colorectal cancer, anal carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, gastric cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and glioblastoma. In addition, Dr. Heineman spent 10 years as a Senior Director at GlaxoSmithKline where he led several vaccine programs including the clinical development Shingrix for herpes zoster. Prior to joining the biopharmaceutical industry, Dr. Heineman was a tenured Associate Professor in the Saint Louis University School of Medicine where he led both basic and clinical research teams. Dr. Heineman has co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He completed his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health and his internship and residency at the University of Maryland. Dr. Heineman earned his M.D. and Ph.D. in Virology at the University of Chicago.
