She has been acting in time allocation committees of observatories such as the Hubble Space Telescope, Atacama Large Milimetric Array (ALMA), European Southern Observatory (ESO) and Gemini. Presently member of the Board of UNESCO's the International Basic Sciences Program. Coordinator of the PRONEX project ASTROSUL in the south of Brazil. She is the President of Commission X1 of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) - Supermassive Black Holes, Feedback and Galaxy Evolution. Her main topic or research is the study and of the feeding and feedback processes of Supermassive Black Holes (SMBH) in the center of galaxies. She is the founder of the AGNIFS group (AGN Integral Field Spectroscopy) using Integral Field Spectroscopy at large telescopes to investigate the kinematics of stars and gas in the vicinity of SMBHs. She also does research in the following subjects: active galaxies, starburst galaxies, and nuclear region of galaxies, where she studies the properties of the emitting gas and stellar population.
