Current research interests are on the effects of health system resources and organization on delivery of care and outcomes in Canada and the US. She created Ontario Multispecialty Physician Networks, virtual physician networks that mimic US Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and has evaluated their efficiency in managing patients with chronic disease. These are being used by the Ontario Ministry of Health as the basis of the new Ontario Health Teams (OHT). Using statistical machine learning techniques, she is developing models to predict high need, high cost users of the health care system. Methods will compare traditional statistical prediction models with modern machine-learning methods.
