Tomas Machacek

I have a background in parasitology and immunobiology. In my research, I study the host-parasite interactions in mice experimentally infected with helminths and how the infections affect other pathological conditions (autoimmunity, neurodegeneration, cancer progression). My model species include avian and human schistosomes (Trichobilharzia, Schistosoma), dog roundworms (Toxocara canis), and larval cestodes (Taenia crassiceps, Mesocestoides corti).
