Obesity affects 1.9 billion adults world-wide and is an independent risk factor for the development of type-2 diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease. The low-grade chronic inflammatory state and accumulation of immune cells in perivascular adipose tissue, together is thought to be associated with endothelial dysfunction and thus promote vascular dysfunction. The precise mechanisms; however, are still unknown. In my PhD I aim to address them by using techniques such as: wire myography.
