Dr Vladimir Khanassov graduated from the medical school in Kazakhstan with honour, completed his post-graduate training in family medicine and fellowship in Care of Elderly at McGill University in 2016. Prior to the residency training he completed the Master's program in Family Medicine at McGill University, where he focused on the key components of dementia management models in primary health care - case management. Dr Khanassov is currently practicing in the Herzl Family medicine practice, the division of Geriatric medicine of the Jewish General hospital and the Institut Universitaire de Geriatrie de Montreal (IUGM). He is also Assistant professor at the department of Family Medicine at McGill University. He was awarded FRQS bursaries (MSc and PhD), nominated McGill Medstar (2015), resident of the year (2015), and also a winner of the first "Patient's Choice Award" at the North American Primary Care Research Group conference. He is a recipient of the FRQS Clinician-Researcher Junior 1 (2018-2022) and FRQS-FMOQ Aspirant-Chercheur bursary (2017-2021). He has completed a research program on the evaluation of the effects of the Alzheimer plan of Quebec on the needs of patients with dementia and their caregivers in primary care. He is working on the development of a new research program on telemedicine for older adults and adults with dementia in primary care of Quebec and across Canada. He received the funding from the CIHR, FRQS, Reseau-1, College of Family Physicians of Canada/MIGS group.

He supervises family medicine residents, fellows in Care of the Elderly (clinical and research), medical and nursing students, and graduate students.

Dr Khanassov is the chair of the competency committee of the Care of the Elderly Enhanced skills program.

He is also a member of the Health Care of the Elderly Planning committee on the educational initiatives of the College of Family Physicians of Canada/MIGS group that has been created to assist practicing family physicians with the geriatric topics most frequently encountered in routine primary care.
