Following subspecialty fellowships in Hematology and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Zarychanski completed a Masters degree in Epidemiology and Community Health Sciences, and undertook a research fellowship at the University of Ottawa, Ontario.
Dr. Zarychanski’s research interests focus on the hematologic aspects of critical illness. Recent research includes evaluating processes of care in massive transfusion and investigating blood products and blood conservation in the critically ill.
Dr. Zarychanski is the Director of Knowledge Synthesis Unit at the Centre for Healthcare Innovation in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was awarded the Lyonel G. Israels Professorship in Hematology from the University of Manitoba in 2016 and the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) New Investigator Award in 2014.
