摘要
Inverted papilloma of the middle ear is extremely rare and so far only 25 cases have been published in medical literature. It is a benign, rapidly growing tumour with higher incidence of malignancy and recurrence compared with sinonasal papillomas. The aetiology remains unknown. Typical clinical presentation includes hearing loss, otorrhoea and otalgia. Treatment is surgical radical resection of the lesion and radiotherapy in selected cases. Long-term follow-up, including MRI is recommended, due to the risk of recurrence and malignant degeneration.
