•Tuberculosis is the deadliest infectious disease globally and the second killer disease next to COVID-19.•Under-detection of active TB cases and delay in diagnosis are major challenges of TB programs to achieve the end TB targets.•Home to home visiting is an effective strategy to access and detect active TB cases as compared to passive case finding methods.•The health system should be strengthened the home to home visiting strategy to increase TB case detection steadily.
