Jamie Kelly

Mr Jamie Kelly is a specialist in laparoscopic/robotic and minimal access surgery, focused on weight loss surgery and cancer surgery of the upper gastrointestinal tract. After training in the UK, Australia and the US he was appointed at Southampton University Hospital NHS in 2008. As a Upper GI Consultant he has become highly respected known for innovating and developing new technology and procedures. He is now the Lead for Upper GI surgery at Southampton. From a weight loss perspective, he performs the routine procedures (gastric band, sleeve, bypass, and revisional procedures) but also performs incisionless weight loss procedures. He was the first to perform POSE in Europe and the first to perform Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) in the UK (2015). He is well published, lectures, teaches, and proctors both nationally and internationally and has the highest volume of ESGs performed in the UK by several hundred cases. Mr Kelly has the highest number of minimally invasive oesophagectomies for cancer (key-hole surgery) in the UK with outstanding results recorded and published from national and international cancer databases. He continues to use his advanced endoscopic skills removing early cancers of the oesophagus and stomach enabling patients to avoid major surgery. He treats achalasia via the incisionless POEM procedure and gastro-oesophageal reflux with the LINX procedure (magnets placed around the oesophagus). He continues to develop new procedures within the UK and is involved in ongoing national and international research trials to optimise and improve patient treatment and care. He is also working with several robotic companies to optimise robotic upper GI surgery in the UK. As an x professional sailor Mr Kelly likes to spend his spare time on or in the water with his family.
